Please consider voting for our lovely Kingsgate Park, which has something for everyone, or look for your other favourites. Serious graffiti attack at Kingsgate Park - can you help police?

Last night (Thursday/ Friday) a considerable amount of graffiti - some of it obscene - was painted onto the play equipment in Kingsgate Park.

A lot of cream emulsion was painted (using brushes/ rollers) onto some of the wooden items, and black paint was used to write and draw on the end walls of the football/ basketball court. Blue gloss was poured onto the basketball  back-boards, and dripped onto the tarmac floor.

It would appear the culprits were well organised and no tins were found in the park.

A big thank you is due to Yate Town Council's Estates Team who have spent today working hard cleaning off the paint. Most has been removed with just a small amount of inaccessible material remaining.

Did you see anything suspicious in or near Kingsgate Park last night or early this morning? If you can help, please contact the police and quote crime reference number 53981/14.

Kingsgate Park assault - did YOU see anything?

Police investigating an allegation of sexual assault in Kingsgate Park, Yate, want to hear from anyone who saw two teenage girls sitting on a pink blanket on Monday July 26th.

On the Avon and Somerset Police website, DI Jill Kells said: "It seems the girls were drinking alcohol and although they have been interviewed by specially-trained officers we don't currently have a clear picture of what has happened.

"One of the girls went home, while the other was found in the park by her parents.

"We believe they had been speaking with four boys aged 16 or 17 during the day and I would ask those boys or anyone else who was in the park on Monday to contact detectives at Staple Hill police station on 0845 456 7000. Alternatively call the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111. They never ask your name or trace your call."

Officers carried out a thorough search of the park and surrounding area, and house-to-house and other enquiries continue.
