Heron Way speed limit to be reduced?

For years local people have been campaigning for the speed limit on Heron Way to be reduced from 40 mph to 30 mph. You can't go very fast at the top end anyway, but there have been problems with speeding cars on the hill down to the roundabout.

It's always been strange that this road is 40 mph like a dual carriageway, but other roads the same size or bigger are only 30 mph - Scott Way, Shire Way and Westerleigh Road for example.

South Glos Council has looked at the situation and concluded that Heron Way ticks all the boxes to be made 30 mph - now they would like to hear YOUR views. The consultation is open until 18 May - you can respond to it here:

  1. Are you aware that the actual traffic speeds the average speed, the 85th percentile speed and the number of drivers exceeding 40mph is lower on Heron Way than it is on Shire Way and likely many other higher standard roads that have already had their limits reduced from 40 to 30mph?
