MORE ROAD CLOSURES on ROUTE TO BRISTOL COMING

As well as sorting out the Kendleshire junction on the A432, S Glos has made traffic orders to close Winterbourne High St (see the map for the exact bit), And for further down the Badminton Road, the other side of the ring road. Again, any time after 18 May for up to 18 months, though they say it will only be closed for about a fortnight within that time.
HOPEFULLY they will have the sense not to close Winterbourne High St at the same time as the A432..... or we will be completely cut off....
Again the warning is - watch out for the signs that will go up showing the exact date......

NOTE UPDATE - since publishing this South Glos have indicated they are not going ahead with the Winterbourne High St repairs at this time..

BADMINTON ROAD towards Bristol to be CLOSED

We can't be sure of the date they will start but any time after 18 May the bit of the A432 at Kendleshire will be closed for roadworks. The detour is pretty long (basically you have to use Church Rd Frampton Cotterell to get onto the Winterbourne Road) - see the attached plan. And coming the other way it would mean going all the way back to the M32 to be able to turn up onto the Winterbourne Rd from the bypass or coming through Westerleigh village. When you see the signs go up saying it is closed, it is worth reacting quickly to avoid a long double back.

Station Rd to be closed to tackle flooding problem.

Morrisons Crossing flooding to be tackled
Station Road closed outside Morrisons

After a hard fought campaign, with members of the Focus Team pushing officers on a regular basis to get something done, we are delighted to announce that on Monday 11th S Glos is going try to do something about the flooding on the crossing when it rains. its a complete mess on a wet day with people wading through water and getting splattered by cars. Because it means closing the road we have been pushing S Glos to do it now, during lockdown, when the roads are a bit quieter. They have now agreed, so Station Rd will be closed outside Morrisons from Monday for up to 21 days. We don't think it will take that line, but they always give some leeway.

This has been a longstanding problem, and we are delighted we have managed to get it pushed to the top of the queue at last.

A38 road closures

A little further afield than usual, but a number of readers use the A38 - so here's a warning of closures overnight on a section between where the B4427 (Latteridge Road) joins the A38 and the turning into Thornbury.
Here is the Council statement:

Overnight road closure – A38 Gloucester Road, Alveston

From 18 – 31 March the A38 will be closed overnight from north of the Thornbury Road junction to just past the junction with New Lane. The closure will be in place from 8pm until 6am every night.

This is necessary while we carry out major resurfacing work. Access to properties will be maintained although residents may not always be able to reach their property by vehicle. We will do everything we can to minimise disruption for people living in the affected area.

A signed diversion will be in place. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

MORE roadworks on Goose Green Way

Nibley Lane closed 13 Feb

Nibley Lane, Yate will be closed on Thursday 13 February from 9.30am – 3.30pm for cleansing work. This involves litter clearance, gully emptying and road sweeping. South Glos say they cannot do this work safely without closing the road.

The alternative route is via Badminton Road, Station Road, Westerleigh Road and vice versa. They've apologised for the inconvenience caused. It will also mean Station Road is a lot busier that day.

RODFORD WAY resurfacing - ROAD CLOSURE

Rodford Way to be Closed - for resurfacing

(Photo - members of the Focus Team on the Sundridge Park / Rodford Way corner, taken at the start of Jan as part of arguing for the massive potholes to be surfaced)

GOOD NEWS: Rodford Way from the Kelston Close junction to the Shire Way junction is going to be resurfaced - some of the potholes, particularly on the corners are huge, deep and dangerous, so this is long overdue.

But it means closing the road......

South Glos has made the closure orders. The order says it will close the road from 6 April for up to 18 months!! We've checked and they think it will only be for a fortnight, but haven't pinned down exact dates.  We asked them about residents  in Bredon, Glenfall Abbotswood and all the other roads and all the Abbotswood businesses. They have today confirmed that they are waiting for the outcome of some coring tests they have been doing to work out how deep the work will need to be - then they will know how long.

But that have promised that all residents and businesses whose only access is from the closed road will have their access at all times - though there might be some delays in getting access.  Watch out for signs giving you advance warning.

Roadworks warning Iron Acton bypass and Westerleigh

Roadworks in all directions:

1, Latteridge Road  Iron Acton  - the Latteridge bends. 3 - 18th Feb - this road will be closed from the junction with the B4058 Bristol Road to just past the railway crossing for major resurfacing. The closure will be in place from 8pm to 6am every night and a signed diversion will be in place. There will still be access for residents.

2 Latteridge lights - 3 - 18 Feb  - the actual lights and the junction area will be resurfaced at some point during that fortnight. It will be closed for 2 nights to do the work.

3 Westerleigh Road between Westerleigh and Pucklechurch - 17 - 21 Feb. In order to build a new island refuge outside the Crematorium, as part of a pedestrian improvement scheme, South Glos council is CLOSING the road (again, you recall a closure last year slightly further along). According to the Council the closure will only be in place on the stretch of road outside the crematorium, with access to properties  maintained.  Access to the crematorium will be from the Westerleigh end only. Details are at: https://consultations.southglos.gov.uk/consult.ti/Westerleigh_Ped_Scheme/consultationHome?fbclid=IwAR3wmWptrw7As1WaaqhkSVY6A970l0xkVeI6C8DJy3ZtTZxEBXA9t-vTf8g
