Time for go slow in Chipping Sodbury? Have your say on 20 mph speed limit, waiting restrictions and crossing facilities

South Glos Council is consulting on proposals for a new traffic management scheme in Chipping Sodbury. The plans include introducing a new 20mph speed limit around the centre of Chipping Sodbury and enhancing the existing pedestrian crossing facilities at the junction of High Street with Wickwar Road and Broad Street. There would also be a new traffic calming feature on Hounds Road near St John's School and there are plans to introduce waiting restrictions around Chipping Sodbury.

For further information please visit www.southglos.gov.uk/chippingsodburytraffic  -  the deadline for comments is Friday 27th June.

A public exhibition will also be held upstairs in the Town Hall in Chipping Sodbury this Monday - 9 June - between 2pm and 8pm. You will be able to talk directly to the scheme’s designers and provide feedback.

LibDem Focus councillor finds finance for much-needed paths

Focus Team members Jane Lund, Adrian Rush and Linda Boon
check out the new path behind Chipping Sodbury School
Cllr Linda Boon has found some local funding to surface a path at the back of Chipping Sodbury School, linking Gaunts Road to Dodington Road and Culverhill Road. This provides a safe walkway for residents of roads like Greenhayes and Smarts Green to places like Chipping Sodbury and Lilliput Park, where Linda's money has also financed path improvements. This shows how local initiatives can deliver small but well-focused much-needed improvements - we need more locally decided schemes like this.

New Council offices - cycling and pedestrian links

As well as consulting on parking restrictions around the new Council offices on Badminton Road, the Council are asking for your views on improvements to cycling and pedestrian facilities in the area. You can find more information online.

Maybe this is also an opportunity to sort out the confusing Stover Rd junction layout - we've seen people coming from Yate turn right too early and meeting Stover Rd traffic head-on.
