Wellbeing activities alongside the river

There's a new opportunity to take part in some riverbank based wellbeing activities starting March 2018 in the Yate/Chipping Sodbury area:
  • Sessions are free
  • Sessions are for over 18s
  • Sessions will be in the Yate/Chipping Sodbury area
  • Sessions will last 2.5 hours and probably be Thursday or Friday afternoons (maybe 1-3.30)
  • Activities will be linked to conservation and include river clearance, wildlife monitoring, litter clearance along with nature talks and lots of time to just enjoy the space and share a hot drink.
  • Sessions will run for 6 weeks with 2 prior to Easter and 4 after
  • Support with transport can be provided if an issue
  • Ideally they want to recruit people who are likely to show improved well being after taking part

New Year's resolution - walk more? Local routes and useful resources

We're told that even a 10 minute brisk walk each day can improve health - there are physical, mental and health benefits. South Glos Council has compiled a useful page of walking links, including short local walks, longer walks and group walks you can join.

Staying Healthy in Yate - new leaflet available

South Glos Council has produced a very useful new leaflet called "Staying Healthy in Yate" (but it is useful for quite an area around Yate as well)

It covers all age groups - children and young people, adults, older people - and points to lots of different resources and activities for exercise and physical and mental health.

You can download the leaflet here
