LOCAL EMERGENCY GRANT FUNDS

Dodington Parish Council are pleased to announce that they have diverted part of their 2020 – 21 budget into an ‘Covid-19 Emergency Fund’ set up to help locally based organisations and charities that are supporting residents in the Chipping Sodbury, Dodington and Yate area through this current crisis.

Grants to help local groups

Need cash for something you are doing to help people during lockdown?
A reminder that Yate Town Council's COVID Battle Fund has cash available to any local group working on something to help our community in lockdown. 

But also, the MAF Money - Member Allocated Funding 20/21 is now open to applicants.

If you wish to apply, please contact a South Glocs Councillor for this area (they are all members of the Lib Dem FOcus Team) to discuss your proposal. This can be done by telephone or email, to ensure  all remain secure during this health emergency. You will find our contact details at http://localfocus.blogspot.com/

The Cllrs will either issue you with an application or advise you to make contact with the Grants Team .

It is open for  all the usual projects  and the normal rules apply to them. BUT and this is important, the rules have been modified so COVID aid groups can apply. without the usual bureaucracy. (Begs the question of why you need the bureaucracy for anyone!) 

For groups who are dealing with COVID there is  no requirement to register with the grants on-line system as this has been removed.  However, in support of the payment process and as these groups are informal they will need to have a partner who is able to receive payment. This can be a voluntary or community group registered to the Grants on-line system  (Yate Town Council is a registered group) or it can be done via a South Glos Councillor.

here is some good news about how our town is helping each other

“Yate and Sodbury Neighbourhood Scheme (YSNS) has been established, in collaboration with local community groups, local churches, Yate Town Council, Sodbury Town Council and Dodington Parish Council in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. We aim to have a point of contact for approximately 415 residential roads across the Yate and Sodbury area and so far have over 120 registered volunteers, each one of whom is doing a phenomenal job in serving their community. These volunteers have been provided with an electronic volunteers ID and will eventually also have access to a hi vis branded jacket. The scheme has a core organising committee of 12 members all doing their bit to keep our community safe as well as sharing their expertise with the wider volunteer contingent. This includes procedures for safeguarding and shopping payment as well as providing networks of contacts for organisations such as the food banks. We are so proud of our volunteers and their ongoing commitment to the scheme.”

Yate gives grants to Green Community Transport for their COVID work

Remember the Battle Fund Yate Town Council set up. One of the grants from it has gone to Green Community Transport:

The Town Council has pulled all the money it can together for the fund, and is looking to see if there is any other money it can transfer. It means some things planned for later in the year won't happen, but the town councillors from the focus team reckon it is vital to get whatever we can to the local front line now.

Town Council launches COVID-19 Battle Fund.

Are you involved in a group working in our community to tackle COVID isolation? Yate Town Council has found some money it can divert and set up a Battle Fund. Local groups can apply for emergency cash to help their work. Just go to http://www.yatetowncouncil.gov.uk/council-news/covid-19/ for the form and guidelines. Councillors and staff will turn applications around as quickly as they can. This is on top of the £4000 the Town Council has given to the foodbank so far. Town Councillors and the finance officers are working through every item of spending planned, to see what can be postponed to next year and the money freed up for the fight.

If organisations are looking to use some of their club balances to help the fight, either give it direct to the foodbank, or you could give it to the Town Council Battle Fund.
