More of B4465 Westerleigh Rd to close for resurfacing
There are going to be road works on another length of the B4465 Westerleigh Road from just west of Codrington to just east of Springs Farm.
The usual alarming notice says that the closure "will be operative from the 3 July 2017 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 1 WEEK duration."
So one week in the next eighteen months - once again, if the warning signs are up, the road is closed; if they're not, it's still open.
The official diversion is incredibly long - via Emersons green, Coalpit Heath, Yate, Chipping Sodbury and the A46 - but that's really for heavy vehicles. Local people will doubtless know the short way round!

Please can someone advise what the local diversion is (for a new commuter to the area)

Ended up on M4 and M5 tonight!
Where are you coming from and going to?
ReplyDeleteHi Paul, From A46 (Dursley) going to the ring road and on to Priston. Thanks for any help!
DeleteI assume that you were using the B4465 to get from the A46 to the A4174 ring road?
ReplyDeleteIn that case come off the A46 at old Sodbury traffic lights, turning right towards Yate on the A432.
Go just past Yate Shopping Centre and the Sports Centre (on your right) and turn left at the double roundabout onto Westerleigh Road.
Straight on at the next roundabout, then right at the mini-roundabout.
Follow the road to Westerleigh.
Carry straight on through Westerleigh village and up the hill to the traffic lights.
Turn right there onto the B4465 that you will be familiar with, heading for the Ring Road.
Does that make sense to you?
I'll give it a try tomorrow - many thanks for this.
ReplyDeleteI was going to go over the M4 and pick up the A420 through Warmley and back to the ring road
that way.
Very grateful for your help. I read that the road will only be closed at nights after tomorrow - is that true do you know?
Yes, that should be another good route - depends on the time of day. I don't know about night time only, but the road works map https://southgloucestershire.roadworks.org/ suggests they should finish on Friday. Keep an eye on that page for updates.
DeleteThanks very much for all your help Paul, very grateful. I will probably do the A420 as I am not familiar with Yate (although if the job works out I may well be moving there!) I will check the website again too. Thanks again
